I’m Karen Smyth, and I offer a calm, supportive environment where you can explore what feels out of balance and begin to reconnect with yourself. My work brings together individual Gestalt therapy, Mind–Body Skills Groups, and short self-care retreats — different ways of becoming more self aware, more emotionally connected, and creating change that feels long lasting.

I took a Mind-Body Skills course that has helped me tremendously to cope with stressful situations in a different way. Karen is a kind, understanding, and very sweet facilitator, so in addition to learning strategies to neutralize anxiety, we also gained greater self-awareness in a space full of empathy and camaraderie. Highly recommended!
Therapy
My sessions with Karen have given me the tools I need to manage the daily stressors that were interfering with my peace of mind. Since starting my therapy with her, I’ve gained perspective and have improved my ability to face conflict with more curiosity, flexibility and control. I am calmer and more confident when making decisions and going for what I want. My relationships with the people in my life are more peaceful, and my response to the little daily frustrations and anxieties arising from more global tensions are more manageable. In addition, Karen’s intuitive approach and her years of experience, her kindness and humour make each session enjoyable, and I always feel I've learned something about myself and am more at ease when I leave a session than I did when I arrived.
Retreats
Karen and Judith’s “Rest and Restore Autumn” retreat in Carlingford provided me with the space I needed to relax and unwind while also reminding of the need to find ways to set personal goals for the new season. The session struck a perfect balance between movement, reflection and meditation. It was a truly wholesome day. Can’t wait to repeat the experience! J O’D Dublin
What a wonderful way to spend a morning, putting oneself safely into the hands of Karen Smyth’s professionally led Autumn retreat. Going into one’s body, getting in touch with its needs. Returning to deep breathing through one’s belly. Quietening any clamouring noise of one’s mind that might seem so pressing, yet that can be put to one side to settle. Karen is a gentle, experienced practitioner leading one through movement to stillness. I so recommend spending this time on oneself and look forward to future retreats, rewards for myself when work pressures and obligations tell my body and mind to step back for a few hours. Karen Smyth led this course over several weeks taking me on an extraordinary journey together with fellow participants with great skill and professionalism. A joy to meet them and venture into areas of our lives as a group and individuals. All supporting one another safely with Karen's excellent guidance. I’ve already recommended her and this course to others and have learnt so much for myself going forwards. It’s helped me reconnect with my mind and body, putting them back in touch and helping me as a whole to function more positively. Each session explored a different sense, skill- tasting, moving, writing, drawing, but most of all breathing deeply through one’s belly. Who would have thought that breathing be something we have to learn, relearn how to do?! Well I did and do and now find it a source of peace and inspiration.
